Interiors Trends for Summer 2024

Houzz has revealed the latest home design trends, drawing from the preferences of UK homeowners, design enthusiasts, and professionals. This year's themes focus on creating calm, wellness, and a connection to nature.

Wellness at Home

Wellness features are gaining popularity in homes, with more people setting up yoga rooms, saunas, and home gyms. There's also a rising interest in creating spa-like experiences at home, with indoor swimming pools and spa bathrooms becoming more common.

Embracing Green

Green is the colour of the moment, symbolising nature and renewal. The 2024 Houzz UK Kitchen Trends Report found that 1 in 6 renovating homeowners chose green cabinetry. This trend extends to green kitchens and other green-themed spaces in living rooms, bathrooms, and walls.

Outdoor Enhancements

Enhancing garden spaces is a big focus, with a noticeable increase in the use of raised beds and greenhouses. Outdoor kitchens and granny annexes are also on the rise, reflecting a move towards improved outdoor living and multigenerational homes.

Statement Entrances

Home entrances are getting more attention, with a significant boost in interest. Homeowners are keen on making great first impressions, seen in the growing popularity of hall designs, hallway storage solutions, and Victorian entrance hallways. Bungalow front porches and general front porch designs are also becoming more important, highlighting the desire for curb appeal.

Countryside Charm

The rustic farmhouse style is winning hearts, with a huge surge in interest for roses and country cottage gardens. Inside the home, there's a growing love for country cottage interiors, walk-in pantries, and farmhouse bathrooms, all capturing the tranquility of rural life.

Kid-Friendly Spaces

Parents are creating personalised spaces for their children, with a rise in interest for teenage girl bedrooms, teenage boy bedrooms, teen rooms, and kids rooms. This trend underscores the importance of giving kids areas where they can express themselves and feel at home.

These emerging trends from Houzz highlight a shift towards wellness, nature, and personalised spaces, reflecting the evolving needs and desires of homeowners today.
