Entryway

The first thing to address was storage. I created a bespoke console, with fluted wood doors and a chunky wany edge wood top. I wanted to make the most of the space under the stairs so created a small cupboard, with a side panel that uses a push-to-open mechanism. To house the boiler I designed a floor to ceiling built-in cupboard which also houses items like the hoover and ironing board. Part of the quirky layout of this hallway included a tucked-away alcove which I designed to be used as a laundry drying area as space is at a premium in this whole property. I created a false wall on which I mounted two drying racks, and tucked under this is a basket for dry clothes, and pretty scandi hooks for drying shirts and bedding.
To facilitate this client’s love of pattern I incorporated this fabulous Emma J Shipley wallpaper to set off the striped stair runner. Pops of orange add colour to the space which is packed with lots of natural textures for plenty of tactility.
